The Steelville Country Club held the 2nd leg of its bi-annual ABC and Doubles shuffleboard tournaments on August 1-2, 2008. The ABC event was held on Friday night and consisted of 7 teams. Taking Third place was John Boyer, Terry Russell, and Bill Anderson. Second place went to Mike Polson, Gary Ferrou, and Shelby Sanders. This was the first tournament Shelby had ever competed in. Pretty strong finish for her first tournament. First place went to Jerry Romay, Mike Harthill, and Travis Ware.
The Doubles event was held on Saturday and consisted of 12 teams. Taking Third place was Mike Simpson and Mike Polson. Second place went to Florence Hicks and Dennis Sandstrom. First place honors went to the undefeated team of Jerry and Larry Romay. I would like to thank Mike Polson for doing the Calcuttas. Special thanks to Kathy Anderson and her staff for keeping our drinks filled and stomachs full.
Kathy also donated $100 to each event in prize money. Kathy also indicated in the future she would like to change the format from a TEAM MUST ADD TO 3 to a NEGATIVE HANDICAP WITH A 4-POINT MAX. beginning next year. See everyone next year.
