Things got started Thurs. night with 16 teams in an AB draw. 1st. place went to Larry Romay of St. Louis and Justin Sparks Houston. 2nd went to Charlie Riley and Willie Walker both local players. 3rd. was Jerry Romay of St. Louis and Gary Ferrou of Kansas city. 4th. JFK of Tulsa and Melissa Dunn of Houston.
Friday was bring partner max 4 negative handicap with 24 teams.
Open div 1 had 16 teams. 1st place was Willie Walker and Justin Sparks both local players, moving up from Div. 2 taking advantage of their 6 handicap. 2nd place went to Dean Pinkston and Charlie Riley both local. 3rd. Woodie Cockrum of Columbia and Manny Lane of Pocahontas, Ar. 4th. Angie Paben of Florida and our local bar manager Dennis Hebblethwaite.
Div 2 had 8 teams. both players in this event must be rated 2.50 or more. 1st place Steve Hinkle of Springfield and Melissa Dunn local player. 2nd. place Janice Hagerty of Kansas City and Gene Smith local. 3rd place went to two local girls Cheryl Reeder and Susan Bunch.
The next event was open singles with neg 4 handicap. A total of 14 players. 1st was Angie Paben of Florida who flew in to help her dad with the tournament and of course take a good piece of the prize money. 2nd was Jerry Romay of St. Louis. 3rd. was local Charlie Riley. 4th. was John Boyer of St. Louis.
In all there was 50 registered players. Delane Moore did his usual very good job of directing the tournament and also taking care of the brackets. Becky Leier and the Moore kids, Chris and Angie took care of the computer work and money. Thanks Becky we appreciate you. The Aerie and auxiliary kept us all fed and Joe Kirkman, Mike Sparks, Becky Leier and Mary Beth Shea cooked up some of the best corned beef and cabbage you ever ate. Thanks boys and girls. A good time was had by all. Our next tournament is our Hall Of Fame tournament Sept. 18, 19 and 20th.
