PRESIDENT’S DAY RESULTS 20100001
The President’s Day tournament held at Oskar’s Sports Bar and Grill in Bellflower, Ca was another success. Everyone that showed up to play was certainly there for a piece of the action. The total prize money was $4860.
On Thursday night there were 10 teams in the AB blind draw and Al Salazar and Richie Eshilian won the whole thing. Then on Friday night the ABC was drawn out and there were eleven teams. It was really not much of a battle as the Al Salazar team pretty much had things going their way and they never lost a match. The team was made up of Al, Bill Landress and Richie Eshilian
Coming in second was the Phil Gardner team, which included Jana Brannen and Nancy Salazar. It was a great weekend for the Salazar’s and it was also great to see the both of them once again. And taking third place was Tim O’Brien, Erika Worley and Theresa Clark.
After the smoke had settled the doubles were started on Saturday night. There were some hard fought games for some of the teams, but coming out on top was the local dual of Phil Gardner and Jerry “Humdinger” Harp. They too went to the winners circle without losing a match. Congratulations to Phil and Jerry.
Coming in second was Al Salazar and Bob Crum. Once again it was Al playing his usual great play and Bob playing very well too. Just out of the money was the team of Kenny Hawkes and Jim Martin.
As always, the people that provided all the wonderful food must not go unrecognized. The food just seemed never to stop. Coming from Anna Brunskill, Jan Manes, Bonnie Turmbo and several others including the owner Oscar Ugarte. I heard nothing but praise for the feast you all put out for us and thank you for every loving minute you people put into the wonderful work, and I do realize it was WORK. Thank you so very much.
Our thanks from the CSHOF for Bonnie and Jan who were able to raise $108 for the fund. It is my understanding that Alan Snow played a big part of that. Thanks Alan for your support.
Last, but certainly not least, our thanks to Kenny Hawkes for doing the auction. Great job!
Jim Martin
